JOB SUMMARY: The Inside Technical Sales Representative is responsible for Level 1 technical support and follow up quote and order entry.

Key performance objectives in order of priority with ideal time allocation are:

  • Develop a broad knowledge base of Triad product offering, achieving core competencies in key assigned lines and technologies.

  • Provide initial (Level 1) customer support for Automation products. Steer incoming inquiries to the correct resource if a higher level of support is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role. Other responsibilities may be assigned.

Interpersonal Responsibilities

  • Shares information and insight on account intelligence and strategy with internal stakeholders (Account Managers, Automation Managers, Engineering) and assists with developing solutions for meeting customer requirements and troubleshooting issues.
  • Works collaboratively across the organization and serves as a conduit for ensuring customers’ needs are met. When required, resolves escalated issues and works to remedy all complaints or disputes that arise from customers in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with engineering to develop product knowledge and basic capabilities

Operational Responsibilities

  • Attends automation training program to broaden technical competencies and product knowledge
  • Enter sales opportunities and activities in the CRM to provide data for sales pipeline. Maintains CRM database, files, and other necessary documentation to support the sales and marketing function.
  • Enter and track support tickets in [please apply online] Responsible for both assigned tickets and self-generated tickets where level 1 support is required, shows attention to detail while demonstrating ability to manage multiple projects
  • Monitor the “Chat” feature on the Triad website, serving as the first point of contact for prospective online customers
  • Uses extensive product knowledge, various computer software programs and supplier catalogs to identify exact parts needed and price and availability with a high degree of accuracy
  • May attend prospect meetings to transition relationships from inside sales to an outside sales account manager. Sets up and monitors follow-up touchpoints with Account Managers and tracks transitioned accounts through the sales pipeline. Resumes ownership of relationships that do not result in a Request for Proposal and/or reoccurring business.
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with assigned customers to assure that accounts remain successful and profitable. Identifies upcoming projects, changes within the account and key contacts to develop opportunities as well as establish long-term, ongoing relationships. Follows up with customers post project to handle inquiries and serve as a resource.
  • Coordinates the flow of customer information to customer service and engineering to develop proposals for products, components or services. Ensures all relevant details are captured and the customer’s scope of work is clearly understood. Presents proposals to customers and follows up to move open opportunities through the sales funnel and close new business.
  • Analyzes the potential of assigned account base and determines the value of existing and prospective customers. Uses analysis to develop sales forecasts that support product line account goals.
  • Participates in trade shows, open houses and other activities for promoting Triad in the marketplace. Logs customer interactions and contact information into the CRM and follows up on show leads.
  • Provides all documentation required for new customer set-ups; including credit applications, tax exemption certificates, liability insurance certificates, and product specifications.
  • Responsible for understanding and interpreting technical drawings, customer specifications and requirements

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Participates in a customer’s planning processes and remains up-to-date of future needs. Uses a value-based approach to segment customers and develop account plans and sales strategies for maximizing the return on investment of time for the territory/segment.
  • Performs account reviews with the Automation Sales Manager to determine assignment of prospective customers to an account manager or product specialist by region, product category or application.
  • Proactively seeks out customer feedback and provides the management team with input on pricing strategies, upcoming projects, account challenges, competitive activities, and opportunities for introducing new products and services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Associate’s degree
  • Experience: Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensures and Certifications: Not applicable
  • Knowledge/Skills: Incumbent must be able to successfully navigate in Windows software applications and on the Internet. Excellent communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal skills and organizational skills are essential. Professionalism must be present with internal and external customers.
  • Technical Development: Ability to navigate in various software systems that include but are not limited to, Microsoft Office and Prophet21.
  • Capable of interpreting technical drawings, customer specifications and requirements.
  • Mathematical Development: Ability to add, subtract, and divide all units of measure.
  • Language Development: Ability to read manuals, reports, follow workplace rules and procedures. Be able to present information in a group setting or via various media formats.
  • Reasoning Development: Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
